Dorian's new easel

We just got this easel of good old craigslist for $10! I love craigslist.
He loves drawing and painting so I have been keep my eyes open for a nice wood one.
Dorian has really enjoyed it so far, we need to get him some more wipe board pens.
He loves drawing stuff and being able to wipe it off. The other side is a chalk board and it also has a paper roll and that can be used for drawing or painting. I am sure it will get lots of use!

Future herpetologist?

Dorian and Ashar were outside the other day and Dorian said "whats that dad?" and Ash just thought it was grass, but then looked closer and it was a gardner snake! They picked him up and kept him as a "pet" until I got home from the coffee shop to show me. Then we let him go back to his family. Dorian was so excited to hold it and pat it, I think Ash was just as excited though!

Coloring

Dorian loves to color. He does not like crayons but loves markers.
Here are some power rangers he colored and also a butterfly.
As you can see he loves using all different colors and is a perfectionist when it comes to coloring.
He also loves to stack these beads. The cat loves to knock them down and play with them as you can see we only have 1 yellow bead left.

Reading

Dorian and Kait like to play in the cot together. I found them being so sweet with each other reading books and then they saw me and my trusty camera and starting hiding under the books!

Meoooowwww

Ashar took Dorian to the Children's Museum last week and Dorian came back as a cat!
Dorian said he had lots of fun and that he liked playing in the ambulance and playing in the grocery store they have at the Children's Museum. Here are some photos of him as a kitty and also Aussie and Dorian resting on the couch together.

Rainbow

Here is Dorian making a rainbow with his shapes. He really enjoys making things with the shapes and sorting them.

Another reason we are lucky we can homeschool!

Over 2 million children are now homeschooled in the United States. On standardized tests, homeschooled children outperform matched peers in the public schools by a wide margin, and they are comparatively more successful in getting admitted to competitive colleges.

Its April already!

Time goes by when we are having fun!
Here is Dorian doing some school work, it was drawing a line under big and little things with 2 different colors. Then he colored the objects. Then we did a easter craft we cut out an egg and glued and put colored balls all over it. Dorian did a great job as you can see! Only color he would not use is green, he does not like it right now.

Boys and their dogs

We had a few nice days last week, and Dorian would see Wyatt sun bathing and would join him on the porch. He just loves Wyatt, its his buddy and he can say or do just about anything and Wyatt just wags his tail... the love is mutual. You have to wonder what Wyatt thinks when Dorian is trying to put socks on his paws or when Dorian wants him to wear bunny ears.

He fills our heart with joy and love..

In the mind of Dorian...

Dorian right now loves the letter K!
After we practice writing his name he wants the letter K, so its always Dorian K.
His favorite number is 5, thats how old he says he is. He will not say he is 4, EVER!
His favorite animal is a baby jaguar.
He loves coloring power rangers pictures over and over again.
He wears the same thing everyday, that drives me crazy.. I buy him all these cute outfits and everyday he MUST wear his jeans and power rangers pajama shirt! We have 5 power ranger pajama shirts! He also likes wearing his shoes that are 1/2 a size too small for him, even though he just picked out a brand new pair of shoes that he said he liked! hahah!
What can I say, we have a wonderful little boy that knows what he wants and is very original, with his dads smirk as you can see!

Happy Valentines Day!

Here is a mobile we made for valentines day.We also had a little valentines day party at Dorian's friends house. They painted flower pots and they came out really cute.

Dorian is doing really well with writing his name now.We have started to talk about the world. And we talk about Australia alot and the other day when we went through to get gas the guy that was pumping the gas asked if I was from Australia (he knows Ash is) and I said no. And Dorian said "I was from Australia when I was a tiny baby!". Ahhh, out of the mouths of kids. He also likes to talk about aliens and how they are from space!

Love Tree

Yesterday we made a "Love Tree"!
We decorated Dorians mini tree from christmas.
We cut out hearts, glued and put glitter on them.
Then I asked Dorian who he loved and I wrote the names on the hearts.
He said "I love Mum,
Daddy, Wyatt, my cousins Shelby, Meagan, Zoe, Taya and baby Josh!" I asked him who else he loved, he thought about it and I asked what about all your grandmas and grandpas? and he said "yep I love all my grandmas and grandpas." We talked about family and where all our family lives.

He did this all on his own last week!
We are so proud of him. We have not done a bunch of tracing, so we are super excited.
When we work on the alphabet puzzle now he says "I already know all that!".
He is very much a 4 year old.
He loves reading now and his favorite books are by Todd Parr and also Where The Sidewalk Ends. Posted by Picasa
